Well lets face it, the forte of the Maltese Islands is that we are surrounded by sea and an extensive coastline. Malta, Gozo and Comino are surrounded by little inlets and coves, long stretches of rocky beaches or cliffs, and sandy beaches. The most popular sandy beaches on the Island are Ghadira beach in Mellieha, Golden Sands and Riviera beaches which are located in Ghajn Tuffieha just off Manikata, Pretty Bay in Birzebugia and Ramla il Hamra which is situated in Gozo.
"Most people simply enjoy sunbathing near the inviting and warm Mediterranean Sea, but the sportier holiday maker can avail themselves of an assortment of water sports available in the Maltese Islands"
However that's not all, there are numerous little beaches or inlets scattered all over the Island that are worth exploring, such as Imgiebah Bay and Gnejna Bay in Malta and San Blas and Dahlet Il Qorrot in Gozo. Of course the crystal clear blue lagoon is one not to miss which is best enjoyed just before the summer or in October when it is least visited by large numbers of tourists.
